Dr. Don Rice
Dr. Don Rice obtained his Degree in 1968 at Stephen F. Austin State University and continued on his path to obtain his Chiropractic certificate from Texas Chiropractic College in 1982. With more than 35 years in practice, Dr. Rice is more than qualified to perform any procedures to match your Chiropractic needs.
Dr. Rice has 4 children and 1 grandchild, and when he’s not working to make you smile, he can be found volunteering on the local School Board and coaching youth baseball. He also enjoys fishing, baseball, and reading.
Dr. Rice is part of a family of eleven chiropractors who have practiced in Texas since the 1930’s. At one time, this family was the largest chiropractic family in Texas. His father and two brothers are included along with three uncles and four cousins (see photo and caption).
Dr. Rice graduated from Groveton High School in 1968. He graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1973 and was a Texas History teacher for three years. He graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in 1982 and while there, he was Staff Doctor of Merit. He began serving the public in 1983 in Fort Worth and moved to Palestine in 1994. He also earned a Diplomat with the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners in 1982.
Beginning in chiropractic college, Dr. Rice has been a mentor/teacher for others in the profession as well as helping the public. At various times, he has served at state and district levels in the Texas Chiropractic Association, including State Education Co-Chairman, Insurance Committee, and Public Relations Committee, and was awarded Doctor of the Year for the Fort Worth District. He served at all Texas Chiropractic Association District Offices. He was awarded the Humanitarian Award in 2007 and Master Achiever in 2009.
Dr. Rice is President of the Westwood ISD School Board and as a long time educator, he wants to be able to help support the district by making good, solid decisions and policies to ensure the best for the children by educating them and preparing them for productive, meaningful lives with quality education. Before serving on the school board, he enjoyed serving with the Palestine Evening Lion’s Club and held the office of Secretary/Treasurer. His past positions with the Lions Club were Tournament Chairman, Scholarship Chairman, Program Chairman, and President.
Away from the office, Dr. Rice is busy with his family. He is married to Cheryl and they have 4 children and one grandchild. Life circles around his family and especially his grandson, Joseph. They enjoy athletic events and outdoor sports together. Dr. Rice loves animals and has three dogs and several cats. He recently helped rehab baby squirrels and wants to do more of that in the future.
